A Birthday First

The first cake

Lilypad Princess decorated her first birthday cake tonight. She was supposed to help make the cake, but since she took such a good nap today I had to start without her. Once the cake was cooled and frosted, she sat down with some candles and a tube of pink icing and went to work.

Again and again and again, as many times as Nana will relight them (or as long as there is any wax left to burn).

I had forgotten how much she likes to blow out the candles. That cake looks fantastic! I'm sure she had such a great time decorating. LP did a wonderful job and I'll bet PopPop was very pleased with his birthday cake a la LP's fingerprints! How sweet that you're all there to celebrate. I'm curious, did LP eat any of the cake?

She actually did eat some of the cake this time. Maybe because it was made with pumpkin and wasn't too sweet? I don't know, I didn't think she was even going to try it but she ate about 1/2 of a very small piece.

Cake is a work of art! How cool that she was there to share it with her PopPop. Buby would've tried going to town on that cake.

A homemade cake has to be one of the best presents - it always tastes better because it is made with love.
