Lilypad Likes: Unpaper Towels and Dispensers

We have been making a real effort to be more green at the Lilypad. I have switched to vinegar and water for cleaning, environmentally friendly laundry detergent, reusable snack bags, stainless steel water bottles, even cloth diapers. The one place where I have to admit I am far from green is paper towels. We use them for cleaning up spills, napkins, wiping down counters and tables, pretty much everything. I try to remember to grab a dishtowel instead, but the drawer just isn't as convenient as the paper towel dispenser on the counter.

That's why I love these unpaper towels and the dispenser from Made In The Red Barn. The unpaper towels are made from a single layer of birdseye cotton fabric and are similar in size, shape and weight to paper towels. The dispenser would look wonderful sitting on the counter in place of the paper towel holder, making the unpaper towels just as easy to grab as a paper towel. There isn't even any extra work involved other than throwing them in the washing machine, the dispenser is designed for easy filling, you just put the washed towels back in unfolded.

You can see more styles on their Etsy site or find them on Facebook. I'm going to bookmark their site to come back to soon.

Storytime

storytime

Sunflower loves storytime. And Lilypad Princess is her favorite storyteller. Yesterday while trying to pack us up to head from Grandpa's house to the beach, I asked LP if she could keep an eye on Sunflower while I got the diapers out of the dryer. When I walked into the bedroom about 2 minutes later, LP was "reading" her favorite story to Sunflower. When I went to pick her up, LP told me she wasn't done and could I leave her there. So I was able to finish packing, shower, and pack up the car completely while LP read Sunflower the entire stack of books that she has there.

On A Roll

Ooohhhh
Sunflower is rolling. She has had a few random rolls that surprised her, but yesterday and today she made herself roll from her back to her front multiple times.

100 Degrees

What do you do when the temperature actually hits 100 degrees? If you are LP you cool off with a few runs through the sprinkler!
Through the Sprinkler
Fun in the sprinkler

Grandpa pulled out the sprinkler today so LP could spend some time outside without having to worry about the heat. She had a great time running through, getting a drink, trying to beat the water to the other side, and getting us a little wet.

Sunflower was happy to watch her big sister, but seemed a little concerned about the water. And she was NOT happy to actually get wet.

Hey, what are you doing?

A Visit

Sunflower made her second visit to Grandpa and Nannie's house this weekend. She was a little worn out after the party and the late night, but she still managed to smile and laugh at Grandpa and loved wandering around the house with Nannie checking everything out. The yellow flowers on the table were the favorite. She managed a nap on Grandpa's lap for a while to catch a second wind before heading out to watch LP play.

Happy 4th of July!

The girls and I had a wonderful day today catching up with family and old friends. My cousin Lee and her boyfriend John threw a great bash with tons of food, lots of chatting, and of course, the pool. I think LP spent about 1/2 an hour NOT in the pool the entire day. It didn't matter that she was purple and shivering, she was swimming. Clara moved from Lee, to Eka, to Auntie Diane, to my cousin Christy, to her new favorite person, Christy's boyfriend Patrick, and back around the circle again throughout the day. I will have to add pictures later unfortunately, I left the camera at the party last night!
