Deep Concentration

just like her mommy

For quite a while now, LP's favorite activity has been drawing and writing. She spends hours drawing and coloring with markers, pens, crayons, anything she can get her hands on. She has gotten very good at writing her name and now adds it to almost every picture she draws and signs her own name to cards. She also likes to pretend to write, she makes up stories in her head and "writes" them down. Her favorite thing is notebooks. Big notebooks, tiny notebooks, spiral notebooks, journals, blank pages, lined pages; she loves them all. I hope the love of art and writing and her imagination and creativity stay with her all her life.

great shot! It is like she did not even realize you took it. BP does this too. She tells me she is making lists and writing notes for the kids. So funny!

Wow! So sweet. Must be a girl thing. I used to do it, but Buby isn't into pens and writing as much. He is a bookworm and would rather just cozy up to a pile of 101 books. His teacher told me to maybe have him write more over the summer b/c his strokes are so large. Sometimes he needs two pieces of paper to write all 5 letters of his name... they are perfectly structured letters but very BIG letters. It has a lot to do with how he's holding his pen, so I guess he just needs more practice.

My daughter does this too... I am a notebook-aholic (and a pen addict) and so I always have a ton of notebooks and blank books and other assorted paper things (index cards, post-its... )my daughter is THRILLED when I give her a blank book and pens/pencils/watercolours/crayons and let her go... she'll devour a book in a week, and EVERY page will be written/drawn on.

My son? Not so much... he doesn't care to write stuff down :(

Hi i just came across this blog entry and had to tag - that notebook fetish sounds so familiar! I'm 20 and have more than 45 notebooks of all my drawings and lists of everything including my wardrobe etc. And that's not counting my diaries.

I like that shot - she looks so into what she's doing! :)
