A Day to Remember

Today wasn't a special day of any kind, there wasn't anything special planned, in fact the way things were working out it could have been a really bad day. Lilypad Princess woke up early, about 20 minutes later the power went out for hours, and we had a bunch of errands to run. What should have been 2 stops, done in about 40 minutes turned into 7 stores, over 3 hours and still not completed. None of the stores had what I needed so we had to go back out again after LP's nap.

But today turned out to be a really special day. The power outage gave Lilypad Dad an excuse to take Lilypad Princess out for breakfast, letting them spend a little time together. I got to sleep in a little, then jump in the shower. The first sweet moment of the day happened when LP opened the shower curtain and tried to hand me a bag telling me, "I have a muffin for you Mama!"

Lilypad Princess came with me to run our errands this morning. She isn't usually much of a shopper, but was so well behaved today. She stayed right by me the entire time, helping me look for specific things, helping me hold items, and helping me pay for everything. In between stores she would reach up to grab my hand as we raced down the sidewalk to the next store before the wind could blow us away. I didn't feel like I had a 2.5 year old with me today, she was such a big girl it made me want to cry. But that little hand held tight in mine reminded me that she is still my little baby.

To round out a day full of special moments, as sat in the chair and rocked for the few last minutes before bed, Lilypad Princess suddenly sat up, threw her arms around my neck and said "I love you so much Mama." What a perfect ending to a very special day.

I have tears in my eyes reading that. She is such a good girl and a lucky one to have a great mom like you!!

How adorable!!! There is nothing more precious than having your princess wrap her arms around your neck and utter a simple sentence that goes directly to your heart. If only we had hidden video cameras that could record those little spontaneous moments to help us remember and relive them during the teenage years.
