New Year's Eve Snow

Smile!
I'm definitely behind on posts. So I'm hoping to catch up on some of our fall and early winter highlights as I have a few free minutes. Lilypad Dad was home for New Year's Eve this year, and much to LP's delight, we got snow. It was a great day to play in it, warm enough to not even need the outer shell of LP's jacket. While LP Dad shoveled, LP posed for me in the snow so I could try out my new Christmas present, made some snow angels, and ate lots of the fresh powder (her favorite part of winter).
I'll get you!

Beyond ABC's

I am constantly amazed by the things LP comes home from school talking about. A couple of weeks ago it was the painting Starry Night by "Visent Vango". After learning about about the painting, each child painted their own version of it. I cannot wait for LP to bring hers home. Yesterday she taught me about the water cycle, I want to try to get her to tell me about it on video because listening to her pronounce evaporation, condensation, and precipitation melts my heart a little more each time. Her proudest achievement right now is doing the decimal layout all by herself and getting to ring the bell for doing it right, she is counting by 1's, 10's, 100's and 1000's.

Swim Class

Swimming underwater!

LP resumed swim classes again in December. When we were asked to switch to an earlier time (the class the crowded) and found out that she would have Miss Nina in the new class, we jumped at the chance. Miss Nina knows how to get LP to work. While she was able to wrap the young male instructors around her little finger (she had one lifting her out of the pool because she said she was too tired to climb out) she wants to impress Miss Nina and will go out of her comfort zone.

In 3 short classes she made huge strides. She is now swimming without a bubble, swimming underwater, and even trying to touch the bottom of the pool. She really loves to swim, she had her dad in the pool for close to 2 hours during open swim. I can't wait to see where she will be at the end of this 8 week session and in the ocean this summer.

Best Friends

Max is fitting in very well with our family. He is wonderful with LP, putting up with everything she wants to do with him (except for sleeping in her room, he insists on sleeping on my feet). And after a tough first week with lots of hiding and hissing, he and Forster are fast friends. After long days of chase and wrestling, they will curl up together for a little nap.
